Helping Make Your Dreams Come True

Last Night, Blackie Called.

Last night, I lay awake and remembered a friend.

It was early spring when we met, a time when I was sad and lonely. I wasn’t sleeping well and, each night, a bird would sing loudly, outside my window. It went on for weeks and, to my ears, the beautiful birdsong becoming less cheerful and less beautiful by the night. Some nights, I would lay and think longingly, of my brother’s air rifle and peace and quiet.

I knew not what kind of bird he was, just a loud one. I looked so many times to try and catch him at his song, but never did. Read the rest of this entry »

This Magnificent Life

Have you ever wanted something so bad that all you could do was think about it? I have. Have you ever dreamed about something so much that it seemed real - and the day it became a reality was just exquisite, me too - or a let down because the dream exceeded the reality – me too.

I used to belong to the world of 9-5. Everything in my life was structured around getting to and from work, doing what needed to be done when I was there and then getting home and getting ready for the next day. The only time my thoughts weren’t filled with doing the same old thing was Saturday, as soon as Sunday loomed, thoughts turned once again to getting back on the treadmill.

Then one day, I realised 19 years had just whizzed by and suddenly I saw my life ahead of me and it filled me with dread, retiring with a small gift, a pension of some sort and words of thanks from good friends made along the way - all because I did the same thing for another 20 years. That wasn’t a vision of living - that looked like existence and I wanted more.

The world is a huge and beautiful place, filled with excitement and new things and wonderful people (yes, my glass is always half full). More importantly I am someone (just like you) filled with limitless potential, which needs to be explored. I don’t want to find myself in a rocking chair looking back over my life and discover that I am filled with regrets.

I want to make my heart sing and my soul dance because that is what life is all about. Like finding the joy in the simple things - driving with the top down in the summer rain and letting the sun’s rays warm you. Being able to appreciate who we are and what we have in our lives. Being able to remember we are magnificent even when we don’t feel it. Connecting with each other from a heart space and giving a damn about this world, we live in.

Life is about pursuing your dreams, no matter how small or how ridiculous they may seem to others. I want to pursue those dreams until they come true - and if they don’t they’ll be others. However, what I know for sure is, I’d rather die trying than live an unlived life.

I stepped off the treadmill and I’m pursuing my dreams. What are you doing? Leave me a comment about your dreams and if you need the courage here’s a place where you’ll find loads.

The Pain is Worth It

We’re so nearly there now! The DebtFree Playbook has been launched with a free event enjoyed by all. People are having amazing success with it, showing debt decreases of £300-£600 in their first month. That’s particularly exciting at a time when debt has become our No. 1 national concern - above the war and climate change. (Abbey National 2007)

Our beautiful site, Holding Your Dream is nearly finished and will be launching soon. As so often happens, we are most sorely tested when we’re close to the finish post. I have had pneumonia since Christmas, although I didn’t really know for a while, just wondered why I was so tired! On the plus side, our team has expanded and we now have enough people to cope with all the work.

The other day we had a meeting with our friend, Bill Blake. We’re making a very special video with him (more soon). After our meeting, which inspired us all, he sent us this video clip. Bill said he “saw it and thought of you”. When I watched it, I felt honoured and moved. See what you think… Is leadership really a gift? Sometimes, it feels like a burden. Truth is, it carries much responsibility and it is hard, but it’s also more fun and better paid. I wouldn’t swap it for the world - what about you?

What does the idea of learning conjure up for you? Is it images of stuffy classrooms, playgrounds, school meals and getting told off? Or are you reminded of times of joy - being carefree, irresponsible and unstoppable?

The universe provides us with learning opportunities we couldn’t begin to conceive, from endless examples in nature to every interaction we have with people and every moment we experience. Read the rest of this entry »
